The half of a lead magnet nobody teaches
Most people spend a weekend designing a beautiful thirty-page ebook, export it, get almost no subscribers, and conclude the design wasn't good enough. It wasn't the design. A lead magnet is four things and only one of them is the file. This is the whole machine from the tutorial, ready to edit.
What's inside
- The editable Canva template — US Letter, portrait, single pages, with 2 cm margins already set as guides: the cover, the what-you-get page, a content layout, a checklist page with real checkboxes, and the one-step last page.
- The promise worksheet — narrow it from "my free guide to social media" down to the one sentence that actually converts, with the sanity checks.
- All four emails, written out — the delivery email, the day-one-or-two check-in, the offer, and the rules that keep them almost empty.
- The form wording — the promise line, the button label, where the addresses go, and the three jobs your thank-you page should be doing instead of one.
- The launch checklist — the six checks before you turn it on, including the one everybody skips.
The mistake this saves you from
The obvious thing to do with your finished PDF is attach it to the welcome email. Don't. Attachments are one of the most reliable ways to land in spam — mail providers treat an attachment from a bulk sender as a risk and security software blocks them. Mailchimp says so in its own documentation, which is exactly why it hosts your file for you instead, capped at 10 MB. You host the file, and the email carries a button that points at it. The failure mode here is invisible to you: the file looks fine, the email looks sent, and nobody ever tells you it didn't arrive.
Who it's for
Anyone building an email list from scratch — coaches, makers, shops, newsletters, service businesses. It assumes no email tool and works with the free Canva form; the read-me covers when it's worth moving to something that sends automatically.
